Martin McGuire is an experienced commercial property professional working for over 35 years in pan-European and UK markets. Before setting up Martin McGuire International Real Estate Ltd, Martin was a Senior European Property Fund Manager at AXA Investment Managers based in London until November 2015 having joined the Company in 2007. He was responsible for two closed ended funds, the European Added Value Fund (EAVF) and AXA Property Trust (APT) which is quoted on the London Stock Exchange. In addition, from late 2012 to 2015 he was Fund Manager of five other pan-European closed-ended vehicles invested across Western Europe, all sectors and risk profiles with a total combined AUM of €2bn. He managed a team of seven property professionals in the London and Paris offices and worked extensively across Europe with the support of AXA asset management teams based in all jurisdictions. Investors in these funds were third party international institutional clients as well as AXA Funds.
Prior to this Martin was Investment Director at Standard Life Investments in Edinburgh where he had a career spanning 22 years. He instigated and ran the firm's European property investment and development programme including the setting up and management of the European Property Growth Fund (EPGF) for external clients. Total funds under management reached €1.5bn with investments in France, Spain, Belgium, Portugal and Ireland. He was responsible for high profile purchases and developments in key locations the most significant of which were in Paris (10 avenue Hoche and Le Triangle de L’Arche), Madrid (73 Serrano, 55 Castellana and Las Mercedes Business Park), Barcelona (Torre Tarragona, 583 & 635 Gran Via), Brussels (Boulevard de la Pleine), Lisbon (Torre Zen) and Dublin (Canada House).
Martin also managed the UK Life Fund £1bn office portfolio having assets in London and throughout the UK. Previously Martin had been responsible for teams of asset managers which managed and developed UK commercial property portfolios for The Standard Life Assurance Company’s UK Life Fund and Pension Funds.
In the early 1980s Martin worked in Brussels for five years at Jones Lang Wootton acting on behalf of Belgian and International clients on commercial property across Belgium.
Martin commenced his professional career at Kenneth Ryden and Partners, Chartered Surveyors, in Edinburgh in the Commercial Property Department.
Martin graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a degree in Land Economy (BLE) in 1977 and is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He also holds an Investment Management Certificate and has been an Approved Person at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). He is a fluent French speaker and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
